Model-Glue 1.1 Release and 2.0 Alpha

I've been a little quiet on the Model-Glue front recently (life's been a bit busy!). 1.1 and 2.0 are both coming down the pipe, and I thought I should blog a bit about timing while a server reboots. 1.1 is code-complete, and has been scaled back (no "Headstart" template) to be primarily a maintenance release, with the only new features being the inclusion of ColdSpring support. For those usin...

Ray Camden releases MGDoc

Ray Camden has released a piece of code called "MGDoc," a cool tool that'll take your ModelGlue.xml file and produce a PDF showing you its settings, controller configuration, and event-handler data. Very nice, and it'll definitely come in handy where I work! Download / see example at http://ray.camdenfamily....

Model-Glue.com: Back after these messages

So much for automatic renewal - Model-Glue.com turned into a GoDaddy splash screen this AM. Thanks to those who've notified me - the renewal is being processed right now.

Model-Glue: What the hell is autowiring?

Scott Stroz dropped me an IM yesterday asking "What the hell is autowiring?" It's a pretty good question, and one that I haven't done a good job explaining. So, here we go: the evolution of autowiring.

Rob Gonda's Ajax + Push in Model-Glue

Wow - this is pretty slick. By using his AjaxCFC, an event gateway, and a tiny Flash movie as a conduit, Rob Gonda has come up with a way to do *push* in Model-Glue via Ajax. That...is...pretty...slick! Read his full post at http://www.robgonda.com/blog/index.cfm/2006/3/20/Behold-ModelGlue-users...

Sean Corfield on Model-Glue, Reactor, and ColdSpring

Sean's written up an entry talking about his experiences using Model-Glue with Reactor and ColdSpring. I've been using these same three recently, and it's been a good experience. Each framework is dedicated to its task and doesn't try to go outside of its domain - when combined, things seem to just work. Read more about Sean's experience Read more on Joe Rinehart's blog]

Mission: Clayton

My mission, that I've chosen to accept, is to pack all of my belongings in the next six days, load them on to a truck, and to move them approximately 300 miles south of Washington, DC to the town of Clayton, NC. For the next six months, I am to reconnoiter the lot diagonally across from the one I've purchased, observing the construction of the Hughes hous...

Model-Glue:Unity (2.0) and ColdSpring

Some people guessed it immediately, but one-half of the "Unity" nickname is that Model-Glue 2.0 is dependent on ColdSpring. I've split my outside-of-work development time between finishing 1.1 and starting 2.0 (2.0 is actually guiding 1.1 a bit, so it's worth the delay), and I'd like to ask for some community input.

ASP.NET: Bringing bad VB to the Web

I heard this yesterday, and it made me chuckle: "Sure, there are people doing good ASP.NET applications, but those are usually C# people who really 'get it' building a model and attaching an ASP.NET presentation layer to it. That's rare, though. For the most part, ASP.NET is simply the most efficient way to turn a bad Visual Basic 'developer' into a worse Web 'developer.'" I hav...

Model-Glue hits 6,000 downloads!

I've been keeping an eye on Model-Glue downloads, watching them slowly approach 5,000 overall downloads, and got distracted. In the past month, Model-Glue has gone from ~4,800 downloads to 6,293. Thanks to everyone who's downloaded it for making it the most downloaded thing I've ever written!
